DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co,, Waltham, Mass., model 1892 "Vanguard", 18 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, 5 adjustments, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws and micrometric regulator, in a yellow gold filled, screw back and bezel open face case, with Arabic numeral, outer red 5-minute markers, double sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #16140797, c1910
CONDITION: CASE: Not original to the movement; Shows extra case screw marks; Minor dents less than the size of a grain of rice, back; Dings and pin pricks, band; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Amateur damascening on inside of case back; Gold filled with minor brassing; Crown worn. DIAL: Scratches minor to dial. HANDS: Minor oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Scratches and shallow pitting on ratchet wheel; Bright work has minor oxidation, regulator, click; Ratchet wheel screw replaced; Jewel setting marred, balance upper endstone. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks).
